Life Transitions + General Stressors
Change often means uncertainty, which can be scary! It's our ability to be resilient in these challenging moments that builds confidence, allows us to see who our main supports are, and utilizes skills to push us even further in the next challenge we face.
Life transitions happen at all stages of life. According to psychologist Erik Erikson, humans grow through 8 stages of life. At each of these stages, we are responsible for engaging with ourselves and the world in a particular way. However, oftentimes, we have not successfully completed a prior level, leaving us standing on shaky ground.
Together, we will work to understand your life goals and what you value to best prioritize and address crucial issues in your life. When we live our lives in accordance with our values, we align with our more authentic selves, which can reduce irritability, lethargy, decision fatigue, and more.
How we will do this:
Understanding your main goals and motivators: re-evaluate, reflect, and explore aspirations and desires to uncover what truly matters
Ensuring you are living life according to your values: align behaviors with values, making choices that are consistent with your most authentic self, and setting achievable goals that reflect these values
Learning to accept and tolerate challenging moments: build emotional resilience, utilize meaningful coping skills, and learn to accept and tolerate rather than avoid challenging moments
Building intentional and meaningful routines: explore daily needs, interests, and self-care practices to develop structured routines that enable a sense of control and stability
Managing anxiety and uncertainty: build tools and strategies to manage feelings of anxiety and uncertainty, such as mindfulness, grounding exercises, and cognitive reframing to build a more adaptive mindset
Strengthening communication skills: learn assertiveness, active listening, and conflict resolution skills to enhance your ability to express your needs and maintain healthy connections
Cultivating self-compassion: explore self-talk patterns and reframe unhelpful thoughts to develop a more supportive and understanding relationship with yourself and the world around you
